Pipes grow through a 3D grid, turning at random. Ball joints appear at wider turns, elbow joints at tighter ones. After 16–24 seconds, a dissolve wipe clears the screen and a new batch begins from a fresh camera angle.

About 3D Pipes

Recreates the iconic Windows 95/98/NT pipes screensaver, rebuilt in 3D WebGL using Three.js.

Pipes grow through a 20×20×20 integer grid, turning at random intervals with ball or elbow joints.

Each pipe gets a random Phong-shaded colour with specular highlights — giving the characteristic shiny plastic look.

The camera picks a new angle after each reset, so every cycle looks different.

Dissolves to black between cycles, just like the original Windows screensaver.

How to Use

  1. Watch the pipes grow — they fill the grid over 16–24 seconds then dissolve and restart.
  2. Drag Speed to slow down or speed up growth.
  3. Click the canvas or press F / Space to enter fullscreen.
  4. Press Esc or F again to exit fullscreen.
